Dive
Into Drama 1
This introductory swim
through the miraculous process of drama, will give you the
tools you need to instantly start an awesome after school
drama program. You will learn how to help your students focus
their attention, work together as a team and exercise the
social skills necessary to practice living life. Drama is
not about winning or being right; it is about creating and
working together.
The fundamental elements of drama, field-tested
classroom management techniques, and easily applicable lesson
plans are all addressed through group participation and a
multi-media presentation. Tips are provided for putting on
a show that will foster the support of parents without stressing
the staff and students. This workshop is not only informative;
it is great fun!
From preschool children
discovering themselves and their world to adolescents searching
for validation of their identity, to adults rediscovering
the ability to play, drama is how we attempt to understand
our human experience.

by Sherry (Boo) Capers
Sherry (Boo) Capers

of North Texas from 1969 to 1973 when she graduated with a
degree in education and speech and drama. After a year of
performing professionally, she started teaching with the Dallas
Independent School District where she proposed and implemented
a very successful creative drama program. Realizing the value
and importance of creative drama in the development of children,

a part-time program called CAPERS FOR KIDS®, INC. into
a career. Boo has been profiled in The Dallas Morning News,
Dallas Child Magazine, and The North Texan.
An “Outstanding Alumni” award,
from the University of North Texas, was presented to Boo in
1999 for her innovative work in the area of creative drama
with children.
In 1978 few people had even heard of creative
drama. Through tenacious efforts, Boo Capers has heightened
the awareness not only of the subject of creative drama but
the necessity of drama in the development of children. She
has served on the Fine Arts Advisory Committee for the Dallas
Independent School District and the Advisory Board of St.
Alcuin Montessori School. She has been invited to present
workshops and seminars for The National After School Association,

ISD, Ft. Worth ISD, McKinney ISD, Dallas Association for the

Children, Region 10 of the Texas Education Agency and numerous
Parent Teacher Organizations.

Morning News, WFAA television, Texas Monthly, Dallas Child
Magazine, Dallas Family Magazine, and Dallas Life Magazine.
